About Grand Monadnock Lodge #309

You can read the story of the founding of Grand Monadnock Lodge on our History Page.

Grand Monadnock Lodge #309 is chartered to the Nashua Valley Council #230, Boy Scouts of America, based out of Lancaster, Massachusetts. The lodge functions as a part of the Council's Boy Scout Camping operation, and is under the administrative authority of the Council Scout Executive and the Council Camping Committee.

Grand Monadnock Lodge #309 has consistently been a National Quality Lodge. The Lodge earned the National Quality Lodge distinction again for the year 2003, and was granted a charter to operate for the year 2004.

The lodge executive committee meets the first Tuesday of each month at the Council Service Center in Lancaster, MA. Meetings start promptly at 7:00 PM and are usually over by 8:30 PM. All lodge officers, chairmen, and advisers are expected to attend. Lodge members may attend meetings as nonparticipating observers unless invited to participate by the Lodge Chief or Lodge Adviser.

The lodge produces an attractive embroidered 'flap' emblem for members to wear. Lodge members who have paid the current year's dues can purchase two lodge flaps per lodge event. The flap is restricted to two per member per event, and is not sold commercially.

Lodge events focus on service and fellowship. Two Ordeal / Fellowship weekends are held each year, spring and fall, where new Ordeal, Brotherhood, and Vigil members are inducted. Arrowmen also attend these weekends, give service to our camps, and enjoy the fellowship of the lodge. Lodge events are known for fun activities and incredible food. A fellowship weekend in the winter, a lodge banquet in the early spring, ice cream socials during summer camp, service projects for the council office, and a trade-o-ree fundraiser round out the lodge program.

The lodge is currently implementing the Troop Representative Program -- contact your district's Vice-Chief for details, or send e-mail to oa@gml309.org for more information.
